The Good

With 25 mg of ephedra and 255 mg of caffeine, there is good reason for its warning label to read “don’t take this product within 4 hours of bed time.” There is such a high amount of powerful ingredients in fact, that the warning label also states that in the event of taking anything more than the suggested dose, you should contact a physician or the poison control center immediately.
The Bad
However, there is a difference between ingredients that are effective and ingredients that might kill you. Ephedra has been in constant discussion as to whether it is really safe enough to be used in supplements. In 1998 there was a lawsuit between the supplement company, Metabolife, and the FDA over the use of ephedra. The FDA wanted to propose a ban on any product with over 8mg of ephedra in it, and force all ephedra labels to state that there are inherent risks such as heart attack, stroke or even death, associated with ephedra.
